In case of any new growths dermatologist can easily examine the mole magnified twenty times with the help of optical or digital dermatoscopy to determine the nature of the new growths (benign or malignant) and choose the most appropriate form of its elimination. Spectral lights are used additionally to better distinguish blood vessels and pigments.

With the help of siascopy it is possible to completely determine 3-dimensional structure of the mole and obtain all necessary information about this formation on the skin within few minutes time. During the diagnostics special wavelength rays of light are used that allows evaluating not only characteristics of the surface of the formation but also during the examination when these rays of light reflect from different structures of the skin – melanin, capillary haemoglobin and collagen – determine concentration of those structures, as well as localisation of them up to  4 mm deep. By evaluating image of the formation, specialist adopts decision whether to monitor this formation and perform repeated examination after a certain period of time or remove it by applying suitable method. In considering that it is possible to enlarge the image, study mutual relations of the connective tissues and pigmented cells, siascopy examination method provides 97% precision. Siascopy is especially valuable examination method in cases when it is important to detect in-depth activity of the formation. Moles frequently form in the surface of the skin but they can also be located very deeply into the skin, including exactly melanomas. It must be admitted that flat formations can be more dangerous than physically disturbing ones – projective into outside. 

In certain cases biopsy is used to clarify diagnosis.
